House CN is a sustainable terraced house renovation in East London, designed by SASI Studio between Hackney and Shoreditch. The project transforms an existing London home into a calm, contemporary and highly liveable residence, where natural materials, reused elements and carefully crafted details come together to create a timeless interior.
Rooted in the principles of wabi-sabi, the design celebrates simplicity, imperfection and the quiet beauty of natural textures. This Japanese influence is balanced with the warmth of Scandinavian hygge, creating a home that feels both refined and deeply comfortable. The result is a considered residential renovation that responds to modern family living while preserving a sense of softness, tactility and authenticity.
Sustainability plays a central role throughout House CN. Rather than treating renovation as a process of replacement, SASI Studio approached the project as an opportunity to reuse, refine and enhance what was already present. Existing elements were thoughtfully integrated with new materials, reducing waste while adding depth and character to the interiors. The home’s existing extension and garden, framed by Italian olive trees, create a seamless connection between inside and outside, bringing natural light, greenery and tranquillity into everyday life.
Every space has been designed around the needs, rituals and lifestyle of the clients. Bespoke details, natural finishes and a restrained material palette give the house a sense of calm continuity, while expert craftsmanship ensures the interiors remain practical, durable and elegant. The project reflects SASI Studio’s approach to residential architecture and interior design: combining beauty, functionality, sustainability and human-centred design.
Located in one of East London’s most creative neighbourhoods, House CN offers a contemporary interpretation of the London terraced house. It is a renovation defined not by excess, but by balance: between old and new, craft and comfort, minimalism and warmth, sustainability and sophisticated living.
